a5c7b9f00b Jack Murphy is a tough, antisocial cop. Things are not good for him right now; he just killed the brother of a mobster, and is now marked for death. His wife left him and is now an exotic dancer, and is trying to get her to come back to him and when she shuns him, he drowns his sorrows in the bottle. And if that isn't enough, it seems like someone is stalking him but before going after him, this person wants to torment him first. And what this person does is kill his wife and frame him. Murphy would be arrested and is handcuffed to a young street kid, whom he arrested earlier. They escape and Murphy tries to find out who did this to him. An action-packed thriller starring Charles Bronson as Jack Murphy, a cop who is running to stay alive long enough to even the score with his wife's killer. The only law I know is "Jack Murphy's law." It's very simple. Don't *fuck* with Jack Murphy. You remember that.

Now that is a great dialog mouthed by Bronson's hard drinking disillusioned cop. But some of the abuses that comes out of Kathaleen Wilhoite's mouth made me wonder whether Gail Morgan Hickman, the film's writer was drunk when he (or is it a she?) wrote this film.

Murphy's Law is a pretty simple film. A disillusioned cop has to team up with a foul mouthed female thief, when he is falsely accused of murdering his nude dancer wife and her pimp.

It makes no pretensions of being high art. It is a sleazy 80s action thriller. It never rises above a certain level. But films like this were the mainstream in the 80s. Before the superheroes and special effects took over.

I wont really recommend it. But it is not a bad film. It sucks but also has a few amusing bits. I don't think I would watch it ever again. Charles Bronson is Jack Murphy a hard drinking and an over the hill veteran detective who is mysteriously framed for the murder of his stripper ex-wife. Although taken into custody, in a desperate bid to prove his innocence Bronson escapes from custody whilst handcuffed to foul-mouthed car thief Catherine Wilhoite.(Whose wise cracks are a delight) Murphy must find the real killer who incidentally has a massive chip on her shoulder. The film has shades of 'Blade Runner' as it climaxes in an excellently staged shoot out at the famed 'Bradbury' building. 'Murphy's Law' is one of the Better films produced and released from Golan-Globus' 'Cannon Pictures'
